On 8 September the second edition of Unika Auction takes places, auctioning off prototypes from Norwegian design stars as well as up-and-coming names.
Unika Auction gives collectors and design aficionados a rare opportunity to buy prototypes from Norwegian designers such as Andreas Engesvik, Peter Opsvik, Kim Thomé and Kristine Five Melvær – to name but a few of the 24 designers that are represented at the auction. With minimum bids ranging from NOK 1500 to NOK 35 000 there is something for everyone.
– Unika wants to focus on Norwegian design from post-WWII to present day, in order to increase the interest in new Norwegian design and bring to light an untold part of the history of the country’s furniture industry, explains project manager Silje Nesdal.
The auction takes place during Designers’ Saturday Oslo, on 8 September starting at half past three in the afternoon. It is possible to take part in the auction from abroad by placing a maximum bid in advance or bidding by phone during the auction. The auction objects will be on display at blomqvist.no prior to the auction beginning at Friday 16 August. They will also be exhibited at The National College of Art in Oslo during the Designers’ Saturday event 6 – 8 September, and the auction itself will take place in the exhibition hall.
Unika is a collaboration between the design festival, the Norwegian designers’ union Klubben and the renown auction house Blomqvist.
